As a photographer there is nothing more frustrating than a great image ruined by it being slighly out of focus. Now there are several ways an image can end up out of focus, one of them used to be the body and lens being slighly out of calibration with each other. With film it was practically never known to get defective lenses, however now as it's so easy to notice if your lens is misfocussing by looking at 100% (even though you'd never print that large).

So the solution to the mis-calibration is to re-calibrate yourself - a lot of the current generation of pro cameras allow focus adjustment on a by lens basis.

There is a great write up on how to do this on northlight images here - i hope it helps some other photographers who may have been wondering the best way to calibrate / check their lenses!
